Close-Up Floral
NEW! MagnoliasThese gorgeous flowers, native to the South, are wonderful subjects to photograph with their lustrous leaves and undulating petals.
NEW! Hot House PlantsWhere can a nature photographer find green flowering plants in a Southern Appalachian winter? In a greenhouse, of course. Many of the flowers and plants in this collection can be found in the Biltmore Estate's Conservatory.
Black & White Gallery II shot black and white for many years, loving the many hours spent in the darkroom bringing the images to life. The parallels between black & white darkroom and the conversion of color digital images in Photoshop are strikingly similar—minus the chemicals! The images in this collection are macro and close-ups, mostly abstract representations of familiar flowers.
Black & White Gallery IIMore black & white images, this gallery contains documentary, representational images of wildflowers.
An Appalachian Spring 2005Check back often to see our new images! The mountains and piedmont are alive with beautiful wildflowers, which will continue through the Summer into Fall. Enjoy!
Wildflowers of the Southern Appalachians, Blue Ridge Mountains, Great Smoky MountainsThe Great Smoky Mountains and other areas of WNC contain the most diverse plant populations in the United States. These images are available in print and will soon be available as copy protected stock images for use in publications and other media.
Lotus & Lily CollectionBeautiful images of a variety of lotus and lily plants from internationally known Perry’s Water Gardens in Franklin, North Carolina. Whether you hang the images in a business or in a meditation space, they will inspire a sense of grace and peace so needed in these turbulent times.
Butterflies, Butterflies! While on a trip to Gainesville, Florida, home of the University of Florida, we visited the Florida Natural History Museum. What a treat! Not only does the museum have outstanding exhibits on aspects of Florida's natural and cultural history, but it houses the second largest butterfly and moth specimen collection in the world — as well as a wonderful butterfly house with hundreds of butterflies everywhere. Stand in one place long enough, and one will alight on your hair. Although the butterflies in these photographs are yet to be identified, they are enjoyable to view!
Blue Ridge Mountain Collection
Seasons of Blue Ridge The beauty of the seasons — Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn — is radiantly splashed across the landscape of the beautiful mountains and wildlands of the Southern Appalachians and Great Smoky Mountains.
Waterfalls & Streams in the Blue RidgeBeautiful waterfalls and streams abound in the lush forests of the Southern Appalachians. Most are protected within national and state park & forest boundaries. Many of the waterfalls are easily accessible from the road; some require a hike of varying difficulty. If you are interested in visiting any of the waterfalls in this collection, there are a number of books available that give descriptions and directions.
